Chicago International Salsa Congress!

Back in February, we performed at the Chicago International Salsa Congress! Here’s is the video to our performance!

Choreographed by Jake Strang and Imani McKenzie, the performance featured Tito Puente’s “Salsa y Sabor!” The remaining 8 performers are senior Megan Conn; juniors Sourik Beltran, Claudia Garza, and Alicia Cañas; sophomores Will Sieling, Roo Hiremath, and Jordi Turner; and freshman Jack Goodman.

Chicago Audition 2014

We recently submitted our audition video to compete in the amateur showcase at the Chicago International Salsa Congress again this year. The audition consisted of a small portion of the choreography that we recently began learning, and will use for the performance in Chicago if we are accepted.

This year’s performance is choreographed by seniors Jake Strang and Imani McKenzie, who will also be in the performance. The remaining 8 performers are senior Megan Conn; juniors Sourik Beltran, Claudia Garza, and Alicia Cañas; sophomores Will Sieling, Roo Hiremath, and Jordi Turner; and freshman Jack Goodman.

WUSauce Competing at Chicago International Salsa Congress Emerging Artist Showcase

Saint Louis – January 20, 2013 – The WUSauce student salsa dance team from Washington University in St. Louis has been accepted to compete in the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Chicago International Salsa Congress on February 14-17.

WUSauce, consisting of 20 members and a smaller 10-person competition team, was founded in 2004. The team hosts an annual Dance-Off competition on campus that attracts an audience of over 300 students and community members. This performance marks WUSauce’s transition from being a performance team to a competition team.

The Chicago International Salsa Congress is a 4-day event featuring international live music, workshops, and performances. It attracts between 1500 and 2500 attendees each day. Admission to the Emerging Artist Showcase competition requires auditioning, and the winner performs alongside professional dance teams at the Saturday evening showcase.
